JOB TITLE: Head of Policy, EMEA (precise title TBC based on selected profile)
DEPARTMENT: MPA Europe, Middle East, and Africa
LOCATION: Brussels, Belgium
ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with MPA members, leadership and the policy team on establishing the MPA priorities and positions on diverse policy matters in the region comprising Europe, the Middle East and Africa, aligning with business and legal imperatives.
- Manage outside counsel and consultants.
- Provide expert guidance on a broad range of policy issues relevant to the AV sector.
- Monitor legislative and policy developments, analyse regulatory trends, and propose proactive strategies in response to emerging challenges.
- Work in full coordination with the Head of Government Affairs & External Relations and Head of Comms, as well as the legal and content protection teams to translate complex matters and positions in external messages, ensuring coherent positioning and execution of agreed policy strategies.
- Represent MPA in internal meetings, working groups, and other relevant forums.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- This pivotal role requires a seasoned legal professional with over 10 years of experience, preferably with a strong background in the audiovisual sector.
- Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
- Strong people and leadership skills, with experience in managing and motivating teams.
- Proven ability to be creative and flexible, as well as an effective listener, communicator, and conciliator. A sense of humor, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset are essential.
- Broad understanding of diverse policy issues relevant to the audiovisual sector, including but not limited to copyright, media law, AI and digital regulation, and be able to navigate the complexities of this dynamic landscape.
- Experience dealing with the EU and its Member States, as well as other countries in the EMEA region on relevant public policy matters.
- Near-native knowledge of English plus at least one other major EU language (proficiency in additional languages is a plus) and excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- An advanced degree in law.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
