JOB TITLE: Head of Government Affairs & External Relations, EMEA (precise title TBC based on selected profile)

DEPARTMENT: MPA Europe, Middle East, and Africa

LOCATION: Brussels, Belgium

ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with MPA members, leadership and the policy team on developing and executing comprehensive advocacy strategies on key issues affecting the audiovisual sector, such as copyright, AI, media and digital policy in the region comprising Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Build coalitions and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  2. Develop and maintain a high-level network of industry, governmental, and institutional contacts, fostering positive relationships that advance MPA’s objectives. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at EU and national levels in the region.
  3. Represent the MPA in meetings with policymakers, industry coalitions, and stakeholders, communicating the association’s positions on key issues.
  4. Work in full coordination with the Head of Policy and Head of Comms to translate complex matters and positions in external messages and ensure coherent positioning and execution of agreed policy and government affairs strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. The MPA is looking for an accomplished and dynamic government affairs professional with over 10 years of experience, preferably with a background in the audiovisual, other creative, tech or adjacent sectors.
  2. This key role requires a well-connected and politically savvy individual with extensive experience engaging with EU institutions, national policymakers in the EMEA region, and broader industry stakeholders.
  3. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  4. Strong people and leadership skills, with experience in managing and motivating teams.
  5. Proven ability to be creative and flexible, as well as an effective listener, communicator, and conciliator. A sense of humor, adaptability, integrity and a collaborative mindset are essential.
  6. Near-native knowledge of English plus at least one other major EU language (proficiency in additional languages is a plus) and excellent writing and presentation skills.
  7. An advanced degree in public policy, law, or other related fields.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The role will involve regular travel across the EMEA region. Competitive compensation and benefits package, with specific details to be determined based on experience and qualifications.
